Chanel s/s 2017 tweed velcro jacket,
This jacket is from the s/s 2017 Chanel show. Karl Lagerfeld took inspiration from high-tech, robots, cables and digital graphics, a concept he embraced with literal cheekiness. He played with the cyber-chic motif against delicate couture pieces. The fusion of classicism and forward motion is what Lagerfeld’s Chanel is all about.
Karl Lagerfeld had the runway show space transformed into an enormous data center, all cables, cords, grids and industrial-tape markings calling it the “Chanel Data Center” with aisle after aisle of computer processors.
Almost everything is possible in the digital world, the same can be said of Chanel when it comes to materials development, starting with tweed. He took the primary bright colors of cable cords and worked them in every way he could. Though Karl Lagerfeld hates any suggestion of retro, he focused on a cosmetic pink range, neon's, velcro's and robots reminiscent of the 80s.
This jacket is part of Second Story’s archive collection and is currently available for purchase.
